Looking at their website they list an Australian address but when you read their details they source and ship their stuff from the US, hence the ridiculous freight charge. The price is another clue, $55.48? Who sells stuff with anything other than a 0 or 5 as the last digit?
If you proceed I will be interested to see how they perform as I have a couple of Clisby's although I wouldn't spend $250 to silence them.

Yeah agreed I’m pretty surprised at the cost nearly $200 to silence them. I’ll keep looking around.

I have been in contact with them just to confirm matching model parts but only just now looking into resellers

I have exactly the same Clisby and I find it very quiet. I'd be amazed if those filters will give a 5-15dB noise reduction. In any case, that's a HUGE range of decibels. Why can't they give a more accurate figure for noise reduction? I don't know why they can't specify a single number of dB reduction at the rated CFM.

Maybe try a cheaper version and see if there is significant improvement first ?

Just a comment on those air filters. They are NPT not BSP so they will probably start in the threaded hole but when they get tight don't force them.

They are also designed primarily as an air filter to stop rubbish getting sucked in to the compressor.

Yeah my understanding is the standard filters like in that eBay link (I’ve already got something similar) do filter but not muffle or reduce the sound apparently

Not sure why such a large range of 5-15db but I’d be keen to test it, might not be loud for others but I have tinnitus and use 3M earmuffs etc to help reduce noise overall in workshop. I don’t use air compressor much because of the noise and need to a bit more so thought muffling it initially could be a good step.

These might have cheaper shipping but are $20 approx more per unit

How about a DIY silencer? There's a ton of videos on YouTube on how to make one. Likely to be cheaper and more effective.

Are you sure a 3/8” BSPT screw-on filter is going to fit? Looking at your photo the original filters were a cleanable pan type but with the gauze elements and outer covers missing; in order to fit alternatives you’ll need to be removing the old filter housings. Have you confirmed that the brass slotted hollow screw thingies are definitely that thread size?

Incidentally those Allied Witan mufflers aren’t what you need; they are exhaust mufflers used for when dumping air pressure from pneumatic valves or vessels; the airflow path is in the opposite direction

Yeah I’ve got those wire mesh covers from Clisby directly but regarding the Solberg filters I reached out to both them and Clisby and they confirmed the part number in my

“The FS-06-050 would be suitable for the compressor. The cylinder head inlet thread is 3/8” BSP, you may need add a reducer or check if they have FS-06-038 available. “

But to answer your question no I’m not sure that other thread type would fit I’m just looking around

If that’s the cost to try reduce the noise with a compatible part then I guess I’ll give it a go eventually, I was hoping there may be another type available
