    Default Aldi Biscuit Joiner?

    Hi folks

Aldi has a biscuit joiner on next Saturdays shopping list. Has anyone bought one, if so, how goes it? Is it worth the money or just a bit of junk?

I have a project coming up where I need to biscuit join mitre corners of a piece of furniture together (an entertainment centre). Just wondering if the Aldi biscuit joiner is up to it.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Alex

I've had one for about 4 years and it's given me very good service. A solid uncomplicated piece of equipment. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

Its basically a Chinese knock-off of the Porter-Cable 557 biscuit joiner, which is one of the best featured joiners out there but sadly no longer available in Oz.

I have a P-C and I bought one of the Aldi units as a spare (before I bought a Domino) and the Aldi is a VERY close copy, however I would advise going over it carefully & checking that all the screws etc are correctly inserted and tightened as those were a bit loose or out of square in the one I bought - most Aldi stores don't have hysterics if you pull the thing out of the box to check it out in store so long as you put it back in the box neatly, rather than shred everything & throw it all over the place like most of their customers (or at least the ones near me).
