Arbor & hole-saw advice
Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster.
I've just bought a drill-press ($50 Aldi special) with the intention cutting and drilling holes in 7-ply maple.
I also bought a cheap ($12 for 15 pieces) hole-saw kit yesterday. Neither of the two arbors supplied are straight, meaning when a hole-saw is attached it does not rotate 'straight'. I suspect this is due to the low quality of the kit I bought.
So I'm now in the market for arbors, and most likely better quality hole-saws.
I want to be cutting holes between 70mm and 90mm. I understand the hole-saws for these sizes would use the same size arbor?
I need some tips on brands/prices, and if there are any compatibility issues I'm likely to face.
I would say my needs are at the 'hobbyist' level at this point, however I want a solution that will cut accurately and cleanly, and reasonably durable. Chuck is 3/8"
Thanks in advance!

G'Day Paul,
A good trade quality arbor and holesaws that size won't be cheap...even at Bunnings & Masters.
But IMHO that's the way to go as they will last a long time and well worth the purchase.
Cheers, Crowie

Thanks for responding Crowie.
I ended up picking up Sutton arbor and one of their bi-metal holesaws. Much better results, definitely worth the extra scratch.

What do you mean by 'don't over do the feed' Crowie?

G'Day Paul, The feed rate is the speed that you push the holesaw cutter through/into the timber, you'll overwork the cutting teeth, thus overheating them. It's worse if you have the holesaw rotating too quickly. You also run a higher risk of tear outs and rough sawn hole. I hope I've explained myself okay. Cheers, crowie
