I had a hafco sander that I bought in 2007 that I had to replace all the head bearings in just days after purchase and had to fix other things that were substandard, that's fine it was just a tad over $300. It had served me well in that time, but I got lured into the end of finacial year sale from Carbatec, and for $500 landed in my trailer from transport I had what I thought was a Taiwanese belt and disc sander....., trouble was, IT WAS MADE IN CHINA.

Anyway I unpacked it and switched it on and in 5 minutes ascertained that the main head bearing was bad, and 1 hour later found that the idler bearings were bad also. Unloaded the motor sounded good, but after replacing the bearings in the belt part, I found that the motor had a bad bearing on the back the armature.

Now that all that is fixed, I am happy with the machine even though the fit of some things leaves a lot to be desired.

How does this happen? Is there NO quality control?
I didn't complain, what's the point, it is very disapointing that this happens. I guess I am lucky I have the gear and time to fix type of stuff.

Any way, Rant over
