    Default Belt/disc sander ? Jet

I have been looking at the mid range of these, and would like opinions on the Jet/Powermatic models or suggested equivalents.
I have a Big Boy which is a bit big and aggressive and which I would like to sell, have only run for a total of one or two hours, and I'm only on its second belt the first having separated at the join due to the glue aging..
I nearly bought a 12" Woodfast but stalled after seing the Jet JSC 96 at the Sydney show but wonder whether the bigger HP and mass of the JSC 6DC or the Powermatic PM 31A would warrant the extra expense. Do these have a better build quality/less runout of belt or disc?
There must be a lot of (? happy) users out there but little posted in these forums. All feedback appreciated

    I don't have the JSC 96, I have the JSC 6DC.

Belt tracking - easy to set and remains true in use.

Settings - easy to adjust and use. No plastic junk that will fail after two years. Presets are great allowing fast and reliable setting changes. The belt can flip quickly between vertical and horizontal depending on the task at hand.

Power - plenty of power, that is the true strength of this machine. In fact, you need to be careful not to use a poor quality extension as it can overheat.

Disc - don't bother with hook and loop, these give best accuracy with the disc flush to the plate.

Dust extraction - mediocre, it really needs a higher velocity airflow IMO.

Usage. I have done a bit of work with zirconium belts and normal wood sanding. On the metal it did a great job and saved me hours of work. For wood sanding it rips the timber off very fast and care is needed not to burn the timber.

Changing the belts is a breeze but the screw knob on the pulley cover should be replaced with a faster access method.

Cabinet. Mine came with a cabinet which is handy to store related spares and stuff in. The wheels are a joke and Jet should be shot with a ball of their own excrement for offering them to the public. Make your own cabinet and put decent locking castors on it.
