Bobbin Sander sleeves. Where to buy.
I have a Scheppach bobbin sander and wish to acquire some spare sleeves in a variety of grits.
I have tracked down a manufacturer to make them in the 6 required diameters, 1/2, 3/4, 1. 1 1/2, 2, 3 inches respectively. They require that I order 8 - 10 of each diameter and grit size to get a decent price. 8 - 10 is how many they can get from the mandrel they use to make them.
My question is, is there anyone else who would like to be involved in a group purchase. I would like to get 4 of each diameter, in grit sizes 120, 180 and 240. So 72 sleeves in total. Presently the prices I have been quoted range from $2.02 for the smallest and $4.98 for the largest plus GST. I may be able to negotiate better prices with larger volume.
I would envisage that I would collate the orders and distribute via post at cost. Say a 3kg express post bag which are currently $11.70.
What say you guys and girls?
Cheers

I have the same sander, but I've always bought replacement sleeves at Carbatec in a variety of grits.
Carbatec may not have the sleeves to fit every bobbin, but I've always found the ones I use the most.
I see where you're coming from though, as H&F only keep replacement sleeves in the original 80G.

And CT only go up to 150 grit to my knowledge and $5.50 for a 150mm long 1/2 inch sleeve. The Scheppach ones are 100mm ish. The ones I am investigating are a quality abrasive rather than something of possibly questionable quality. $2.02 + gst for something the right length sounds like the ticket to me.

Are you still looking for people to go into a group purchase for Sheppach bobbin sleeves? I'm interested.

Yeah, probably in the new year I will make arrangements for myself. Each dia and grit size will yield 8 to 10 sleeves. I'm having a bit of a think as to which sizes I use most and will probably just get those done for now.

Who is the manufacturer? I might be buying the bobbin sander and would be interesting in sourcing the sanding sleeves myself. In fact, the bobbin sander would be pretty useless unless you can get a ready supply of consumables!

Australian Industrial Abrasies at Yatala manufactures them. I bought some pre xmas and they are really quick on postage. They first make a sleeve approx 900mm long of whatever diameter/grit you want. They then cut them into the sleeve length you ask. That's why there is a minimum of 8-10 sleeves per size/grit when you purchase. Enfield Guy was looking for others to share in a purchase. Enfield Guy is planning a purchase in early January, so suggest you contact him direct if interested.
