Bosch GCM 12 GDL - Black Friday
Hi all,
I'm not sure this is the best place for my question but nothing better jumped out of the very long list of forum headers.
I'm interested in buying a Bosch GCM 12 GDL and I'm wondering if any Australian tool retailers have good Black Friday sales; considering it's coming up soon. What was your experience with the sales last year?
Cheers
Lyndon

With the extra large capital tax write offs for tradies provided by the Govt because of COVID all high end power tools have been in very high demand this year. When I started looking at compound mitre saws back in August there were huge gaps on shelves and plenty of back orders and no supplies. I eventually settled on GCM 12 GDL but could not find one for love or money in Oz. Because of this I suspect that they might not be on any sales listings for a while. I did managed to get my saw in mid Sept and fortunately Bosch were having a general promo at the same time and were throwing in $200 worth of any Bosch tools/goodies and I had a couple of hundred bucks in birthday and other vouchers to drop on it but I was happy enough with just getting the saw.

Also bear in mind - I believe the retail channels for Bosch are limited, memory tells me they're only at Total Tools and Bunnings. With so little competition, it doesn't engender the retailer to knock a lot off the price in order to move stock.

Thanks for the input and recommendations guys. I'm sure you're both right about the price staying where it is. I had a look on the Bosch Tools website. It's official channel partners for the saw are only Total Tools and Blackwoods. So it's really only Total Tools.

The only "sort-of" discount option with Total Tools is to sign up as a club member and wait for one of their trade nights promotions where you get rewards points to spend in the shop. I did just that and bought a 12" Bosch "Glide" saw. Took it home on Friday and took it back for a refund on the following Monday. I ended up with a Festool Kapex. The Bosch had problems that I wasn't going to bother trying to fix or live with. I tried a Dewalt as a replacement but it took up too much space behind the saw and so Festool was the next cab off the rank. The two saws are "chalk and cheese". Yes, I am happy with the Kapex. Not so happy with the price but the more I use it the more I like it.
