Default Bought a Meber bandsaw - need a back guide roller for it

G'day all! - I've just purchased a Meber 400 Professional bandsaw (that has 400mm diameter wheels, of course - but you knew that, straight up, didn't you?) - and in the course of trying to return it to a highly satisfactory operating condition, I managed to break a back guide roller. Yes, I tried to remove the roller and shaft, to lube it, and the head fell off the roller. I suspect the shaft was crystalised, anyway.

All the other guide rollers I managed to disassemble and lube O.K., but this one wasn't going to play ball.
It was pretty stuffed anyway, I reckon it hadn't been turning for a couple of years, judging by the scores and cuts on the roller face. Yes, the machine was owned by a University workshop - say no more.

Now, I'm starting to realise this machine might be a bit of a "white elephant", as it appears no-one sells Meber in Australia any more, and parts appear to be pretty much non-existent.
Unfortunately, I can't provide any precise machine details, as every ID or manufacturers plate is missing from this machine. If I didn't know it came from a Uni workshop, I'd reckon it was "hot". Even the motor has no ID plate.

I have no manual, and I can't find one for it. However, fortunately, the back guide roller has a big clear part number on it - GL456.
I can find them for sale in the U.K. - but I'd prefer to find a local supplier, if there is one.
I tried my industrial bearing specialist, and he just shook his head.
Apparently this back guide roller is in quite common useage in many European machines - but I was hoping that someone would be able to point me to a local supply source. TIA.

Buying from O/S might be the cheapest option. Laguna used to sell rebadged Meber, and the GL456 is listed as a Laguna thrust bearing so you could try Gregory machinery for one.

Thanks, Richmond68 - but the problem with Gregorys website is, they only have an "enquiry form" for spare parts. Then they want machine model, serial number, year, etc, etc.
Not much use to me, I have nothing on the machine, apart from the model decal.

I ended up biting the bullet and buying a new GL456 roller from Pommyland, it cost me 30 quid, and they even sent it post-free.
I've managed to disassemble all the other rollers, and free them up and lube them, so now I'm just waiting on Mr Postman.

Even though Mebers bronzed-bush roller idea is a bit primitive, they seem to be durable enough, although the drag is obviously quite a bit more than a ball bearing.
I'm quite pleased at how the machine performs, it has a heap of grunt, and shows minimal wear.
The table insert was missing, so I had to get a mate to turn up a couple of inserts out of HDPE - once again, they were unobtainium, and an oddball size - 45mm.

I'm just looking at a little reinforcement of the upper support - the entire upper saw guide assembly flexes too easily, and I can see that their cutout in the upper assembly for blade insertion, is a major part of the problem - it simply allows too much flex.
I can see myself designing a small removable bracket to bolt into the cutout, to reinforce the upper assembly, and thus provide better support for the upper saw guide assembly.

Thought you might do that. I like to support local businesses too, but often for these sorts of parts it's just not worthwhile. For them and you. The only Meber I've seen around here was a 600 with what looked like Carter guides.
