Default brisane planer problem sharpening service recomendation or other advice

    Hi all,

I have an elektra beckum hc260m. I think it's an older one from the 80's. I bought it a while back but only now have had time to use it.

I fed in some 19 mm pine for a 1.5 mm cut through the thicknesser. Lots of bad noise and lots of tearout all over the place. Several pieces, most tearout around knots but elsewhere also.

I assume this is due to blunt blades so am looking for recommendation for a professional sharpening service in brisbane or ipswich.

I am not experienced with these machines. I have a little makita power planer handheld thing and it works a treat. I had hoped this machine would do something similar.

Also most of the blades online have holes. The spares that came with this machine don't, the do have grooves at each end. The manual talks about different holders for the disposable blades and the resharpenable ones. If anyone knows about these machines and can explain the differences I wold appreciate it. The metabo disposable blades are pretty affordable from the UK. I would like to know if I can use these.

    Thank you for reading.

Brisbane Saw Service or Peacock Saws at west end should be able to help.

Thank you for reminding me. I had intended to follow up.

Yes I ended up using peacock saws. I wasn't sure if they sharpened planer knives but called and yep they do.

As usual perfect service at great prices. They even delivered the blades to my partners home for a nominal charge.

    Cannot recommend peacock highly enough.
