I called in at carba-tec today to check out the tablesaw i was intersted in, sadly they didn't have it in stock but can get np.
While i was there he showed me a panel saw thats a monster & awsome at the same time.

As he pointed out, the TS i was looking for with a slide table is only $300 less than this panel saw & its pretty sweet. the slide deck right is up against the blade. digital blade angle display, kick ass fences. 3hp, 240v
But holy ????, talk about over kill.
Makes me wonder if i even need a 12" TS. Maybe the 10" is all i need after all.

That would depend on what you are going to do with it! A panelsaw certainly takes up a lot of real estate, and quite a bit of money.

A 12" saw is nice, but realistically how often will you need or use that extra capacity?

    I have the TL10S and haven't yet needed a 12".

When I bought the TL10S I had kept the Triton Sliding Extension table and adapted that to work with the TL10S. It works very well, but again, now that I have a fence capacity of 1275mm, I rarely use the sliding table.

I have documented bmost of this on the forum, so you can read it, if you haven't already.

Only you can say whether you need a 12" table saw, but ultimately you have to separate need from want

I had a good read thru your threads right up until my eyes fell out of my face just short of midnight. lol.
The more i read the more positive i became that the TS -10L is the saw for me. Are there many aftermarket sliding tables available that i could use in conjunction with this saw? i'm guessing that just about any free standing sliding table will work fine as long as it can be adjusted to same lvl as TS top.

On the subject of bandsaws, while i was in at carba-tec i also checked out the 17" bandsaw i was interested in. just a standard 2 speed machine. while i was there the salesman tried to sell me on a 17" with variable electronic speed control.
    http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind..._320_580_20268
Now my question is, if most people with 2 spd bandsaws rarely ever change speed because its a pain in the ass, is an electronic variable speed version any point? The salesman pointed out that it gives u heaps more control over the cut & blade type used. Now i make it a point never to believe salesmen without some sort of back up.
    What do u guys recon?

Rattrap, I believe C/tec sell some of their sliding tables separately, including the one for the 12" saw you were looking at.

As I said before, I kept the Triton sliding extension table when I sold my WC2000. As per Sturdee's mod, I then adapted that to work with the TL10S.

I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to get a sliding table, I haven't used mine too often. The 1275mm rip capacity is a real boon. I can definitely recommend the extension table between the fence rails, that is a real boon. I still have to make the cupboard underneath that.

On the subject of variable speed bandsaws, I didn't even know that model was available. Sounds interesting, but whether it is worth the extra $750 I don't know. Having said that, I have a 2 speed machine (BAS350) and have only used 1 speed so far. I can see some situations where variable could come in handy, but you will be paying a real premium for it. If it was me I could think of a better use in my shed for $750.

That would buy a good 100mm dust collector and put 100 mm pipe throughout the shed with blast gates etc. IMO much better investment than a variable speed bandsaw

Its actually only $446 more, if it was 750 then i defenatley wouldn't consider it at this stage. but at $450 more its worth thinking about i recon.
