    Default Carba-Tec WDS-400 Sander Manual

I have a CT WDS-400 Sander, but unfortunately I don't have a manual. I have Googled trying to find one online but without success.

Does anyone have one in pdf or other format that they could email to me please?

    Torb,

How bizarre, I just picket up a second hand one today, fortunately with a user manual. I will try to scan it for you tomorrow if you like.

I was looking at starting a question about it, when i came across your question. I was wondering if you could confirm something for me. I am a bit worried their may be something wrong with the speed controller, but I want to check before I start pulling things apart (the belt seems to be moving quicker than the 2-10 feet per min).

I stuck a piece of electrical tape on the feed belt, and set the feed rate at the minimum (should be 2feet per minute), but it only takes 14 seconds for it to move 500mm (the start of the table to the end), which from my math makes it about 7 feet per min.

My only other thought was it is because it isn't under load, but I don't want to test it under load in case there is a problem, and causes damage to the motor?

Any chance you could do a similar test for me (I timed it with the tape at the beginning of the table to the end of the table).

    Cheers,

    Camo

    Camo,

Sounds like a plan. I will post the results later today.

    Speed test result.....

On minimum it took 20 seconds to cover the length of the top of the belt. On maximum it took 7 seconds.

Belt is 21 inches, so in a minute, on slow mine is covering 63 inches or about 5 feet a minute. On max its covering 15 feet a minute.

Those bloody manuals and specs come from the land of the manufacture i.e. China. I have had a couple of electrical items of Chinese manufacture where significant items in the specs did not match the product. eg. Generator with wattage output that was significantly below the specs in the manual and advert. Apparently one factory may make many different models of essentially the same product and are not to reliable when it comes to providing correct specs and manuals.

In many cases, the importer does not check the specs provided against the product itself.

Thanks for that, they are different figures, but at least it suggests it may not be a faulty unit (I was very happy with the purchase, according to the wife it was purchased as a gift and rarely used, obviously people lie, but given the drum has no scratches, and the feed mat looks new, I think she was telling the truth). From what I can tell, my one is an older model, the new one seems to have a higher maximum height and weighs a few more kg's.

Below is the manual. I wanted to load as PDF, but for some reason it kept failing, even with me splitting the pdf into smaller files, and trying it with firefox, chrome and IE, I will try again later. The pictures are all jumbled up, but the pages are numbered.

After doing a bit of searching around last night, it appears that the Jet Manual http://content.wmhtoolgroup.com/manuals/man_629004K.pdf may be the better option anyway, https://www.woodworkforums.com/f154/c...manual-107095/.

There is also one site that shows an easy way to align the drum head Aligning the Performax Drum Sander the guy uses a battery globe and metal ruler to make a circuit (I think I will do the same, but just use a multimeter and continuity)

And lastly I came across this post, a reminder not to underestimate this machine, and it's potential to do harm:

https://www.woodworkforums.com/f67/in...arning-116562/ happened in 2010 so hopefully Rod1949 has fully recovered.

    Default Manual in PDF

This is the PDF copy, I had a bit of trouble working things out (so it was small enough).

Many thanks. Now I can adjust the belt to get rid of the drift.
