Default Carbatec 6 inch Jointer Problems Advice Required

I have a friends 6 in Carbatec Benchtop planer/jointer and the bearing is nearly gone when i look at the schematic drawings and i see two separate bearings .
Question : Can you just replace the bearings or do you have to buy the whole
    cutter head .

has anybody done it . i haven't pulled it apart but it looks like you could just replace the sealed bearings
    cheers pete

I would be guessing that you would be able to replace the beatings,

Just replace the bearings, take one into a bearing shop and get a quality replacement. Avoid getting an OEM as these would be inferior to an aftermarket quality replacement

Mate I believe I have a brand new set of knives for this machine.

You can have them if you want, have posted them in the sale/give away page

Is this the type of Jointer you have?

If it is you should be able to remove the bearings quite easily and replace them. You will need to remove the grubscrews No.53 first and then remove the shaft No.33 after removing the retaining ring No.85. It looks like you will have to drive the shaft out with preferably a press, or alternately using a hammer with a brass or copper dolly so you don't flair the end of the shaft. The diagram looks like the cutter head is larger in diameter than the holes where the bearings sit so it can't be taken out in one piece.
The manual this clip was taken from says the bearings are 6201zz and I would expect that all brands are the same but you will be able to check that when you get them out.
