    Default Carbatec thicknesser pulley replacement

    Hi all,

It might be along shot but I'm trying to replace the pulley from my Carbatec 12.5in thicknesser (CTJ 340). The blade jammed in the stock causing the pulley on the blade assembly end to crack. I was trying to remove too much material, I think.

Has anyone kept one of these machines for spares? Or have any ideas of how to replace this part? I'd need the pulley and also the taper lock because I have no idea where the old one went. Carbatec don't stock the parts anymore.

I don't really want to replace the machine just yet as I've had a bunch of other machinery expenses recently!!
However if it's all too hard I may just go down that route, but was hoping to wait until at least next year to replace it.

    Thanks!

Looks repairable, in the right hands, or machine up a new one, in the right hands. One of the machinists on the metalwork forums should be able to assist you.

I had one which had siezed feed bearings after my workshop was flooded a few years ago.

It was partially stripped down, ready for parts, when we unexpectedly had to move house and... well... in all honesty I'm not sure what happened to it.

Possibly it was thrown into one of the many "shed" tea-chests that I've yet to unpack (it's only been... 4 years? 5? ) or maybe 'twas one of the items that filled the skip.

I guess it's time to poke around in those chests and see just what I do have. If I still have it, you're welcome to any or all of it.

    Don't hold your breath, though.

Sorry to say, but it looks like it was one of the binned bits.

My apologies if I got your hopes up.

Not sure why you need a taper lock as the manual attached to this thread just shows a key and nut holding the pulley on. I believe they were Carbatec's version of the Delta 22-590 but they also don't supply the pulley anymore by the look at these pictures.

This catalogue might give you some details on what's available if no one has any parts for you. You will just need to work out what section the belt is which may still be printed on it if you're lucky.
