The Mortiser looks good , it will work fine . I suppose the things that you would compare it to on other mortisers if you could, would be how well it plunges in with the rack and pinion driving it down, how well the depth stop works , and how well it holds the work and adjusts in the table . Why are you getting lee valley chisels and how do he compare to H&F box set ?
Nice flash work shop the silver door and white walls , nice and bright , almost clinical ! . What's the stack of wood going to be ?

Hi Rob,
Yeah ok. Once I get the chisels I'll give it a shakedown and pay attention to those functions.
I ordered the lee valley premium bits because they are made in Japan and get good reviews. Maybe not worth it, but i'd rather pay more and get slightly les, than pay less, be dissapointed and spend more anyway, if that makes sense.
I lined the panel door with silver backed foam board, spaced off the door panels with an air gap, because the door faces West and the heat radiating off the door was extreme and unbearable in Summer. It made a HUGE difference to temps in the garage. More than insulating the ceiling and walls.
Blackbutt will be used for some simple bench seats for an outdoor table I made, and will probably be the first job for the mortiser! 56 mortises to cut there.
Cheers, Dom
