Hi and welcome. Could it be the tank is full of compressed air and the compressor wont start until some of the air has been used. My compressor cuts out when it reaches its maximum pressure in the tank and restarts when the pressure drops to a certain level..
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

Hi Knight,
it sounds like the unloading valve (the correct term escapes me at the moment) is not opening when the compressor stops. This valve releases the pressure in the cylinder head when the motor stops so that the compressor is not trying to turn against already compressed air when it restarts. You may need to replace the pressure switch as it is usually built into the base of the switch. Those were the droids I was looking for.

I had the same problem with my compressor when it was new, the unloader valve didn't seem to do it's job.
Solved the problem by slightly loosening the pipe at the cylinder, ahead of the unloader valve, so that it leaked a small amount of air. Fixed the problem!!
Regards Keith.

Ours had a button on it you had to press manually each time you started it already pressurised. If there is a spring-loaded button on top of the compressor pump itself, press and hold down whilst switching on the power to the motor then release the button. Should work, seems it has already. This button is effectively a decompression lever.

Hi
If it is a belt drive remove the belt and see if the motor starts & runs without load
Cheers Rod

hi guys gals and thxs for the quick reponse ..only problem now is finding the time to look into your answers ... This valve releases the pressure in the cylinder head when the motor stops so that the compressor is not trying to turn against already compressed air when it restarts. This seems to be what you guys are hinting @ and will look into these ideas.. also a friend said to.... in large pully on motor ...thxs again guys.. give me few months to answer ,how i went......i jump from projects and start new ones... and in the end... i dont no where to start.. as there's too much on ...know the feel? thxs again matties
