Its now in the shed... was delivered today. Then the problem was to un-crate it and get it off the crate/pallet by myself. Tried a fair bit of grunting but that didn't work. What can I do then the brain engaged itself, was time to get the block and tackle out and hook it up to one of the shed roof trusses and bingo it worked a treat. Tomorrow I'll finish assembling it and fire it up

I'm not a fan of the machines with the front and rear in/out feed rollers as once-a-pond time when looking a getting my previous 15" thicknesser there was too much sideways movement for my liking and the possibility of it being bent.
So the new 20" Carbatec unit, yes been great for 4", 5", 6" wide timber. I wanted it to plane a full 20" (laminated boards). The first test for it was this 20" wide laminated pine table top. I set the machine to take off 3mm, it started alright but quickly bogged down so I quickly dropped the table and reset it for 2mm but the machine still struggled so it was down to a 1mm cut. Next was the base (450mm wide) for the Jarrah box with it being a 1mm or less cut.
Then I started smelling burnt rubber and seeing fine rubber particles around the outside of the pulley belts cover. I said to myself before I even fire it up that I should replace the rubber band belts that were on the machine (experience with my previous 15" thicknesser and my current 12" buzzer told me they were crap) with quality belts but I didn't. There are three belts on the machine, the middle belt had carked it.
So in your setup process go to your local auto supplier and get some quality belts to replace the factory install rubber band belts.

god it upsets me that we spend $3K on a machine and still have to upgrade parts to get them to work proper.

did everything come out flat?

My buzzer is Leda branded so it's not only Carbatec.
