    Default Dewalt dw733-XE thicknesser

Hey quick question. My Dewalt thicknesser has a really tight wind up handle. I have un wound the hex nut on top of handle and that has released a bit of pressure. Have used a bit of wd-40 on the thread which has helped a little more. There is also the spring loaded bar on top of unit itself is unloaded so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Does anyone else have this model thicknesser and issues with the wind up handle? Its a little weird to be honest I csnt find out why it's so hard to adjust this unit. I'm installing thry wixey height guage

    Cheers

    Default Possible Cause

    Hi There

In case you haven't solved the problem yet it could be a bent threaded winder rod (part 23 - DeWALT DW733 Parts List and Diagram - Type 2 : eReplacementParts.com ).

I had this problem a couple of years ago and actually snapped the handle applying too much torque to get it to move. Problem was solved after I replaced the threaded rod.

I'm now having to pull the unit apart to fix some wear and tear but love this unit. Will be looking for a couple of older units for spares in the future to keep it going. However in the interim you can get spares from Black & Decker.

    Regards

Hey there, come to think of it that's exactly what the feeling is. Easier in some sections and extremely hard (nearly break the handle) to wind back up. Was there a great deal involved in replacing it? Dealt are extremely documented though so I shouldn't have any dramas pulling it apart with the exploded schematics they have.

I'll look into getting that part as I haven't really been using the unit because of it

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!
