Default Is the Dewalt DWS780 XE SCMS for me

    G'Day Brains Trust

Looking for advice on the Dewalt DWS780 XE SCMS (the newest 12inch Dewalt saw). Im after a SCMS to use mainly for furniture/window/door making as well as general cutting, which will include framing etc.

Having seen this saw at the Sydney wood show today I'm looking for feedback on it and if it is accurate for finer joinery and trenching. Is this the saw experienced SCMS users would go for/recommend?

I looked at the Festool and thought it was great and easy to use, but like most find the price hard to justify. The Dewalt will seemingly do the same thing, just not as easy to set up or change.

I haven't looked closely at the Makita range yet. I heard Dewalt were the leaders for 12inch SCMS. $850 with a stand sounds great value. Will it have the accuracy i need? Anyone with advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    G'Day again

I just saw the Bosch GCM12SD 12-in. dual-bevel GLIDE miter saw (which replaces the common pair of tubular rails with what Bosch is calling an Axial-Glide system). Looks like it may be very handy for bench top use. Any advice on this one. (I'll need to have a look on youtube at the comparison)

Enjoy the show if you're going.

    Thanks again

I am also interested in the GLIDE system as it doesnt take up as much workshop space and logic would say that it shoul be pretty rigid.
I wish they had a smaller version as I am interested in accuracy not capacity

    Default Festool Saw

The Festool saw is the best as I have had three bosch saws all compound mitres but they are nothing like a FESTOOL saw. They are crude compared, the Festool laser is perfect for getting 1/4mm cut accuracy and it is the best saw for dust extraction and use. It is great as you can adjust the speed it is a refined saw, compare it to a Merc Sports... refined and safe... the Bosch is like crude compared to it. So the Bosch saws sit in there alcoves collecting dust while the Festool gets all the work.

My dad told me wait and buy the best tools once. He was right I have three mitre saws sitting there unused and look at the money I wasted. It would have been cheaper to have bought the Festool in the start.!!

Good luck and thats my dollars worth to add.
