Drill Press - Broken Spring
The return spring on my 20+ year old drill press has just broken. The press is similar to the generic ones around today.
Has anyone any suggestions on where I might get the sort of spring needed - flat type as in a wind up clock. Or any suggestions on how to work around the problem of the drill not retracting.
Buying a new drill press is not an immediate option.

Mike see your in NSW ? Maybe a seatbelt tentsioner spring (I have one in the bits n pieces box if needed) might do the trick or give H&F's a try for spare parts.

You could buy some spring steel wire and make your own.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions.
Ray, I went to Hare & Forbes and they had an almost identical cap and spring as a spare part on one of their pedestal drills. It fitted my drill fine and I am now back in business after a down time of only a few hours. I appreciate your help. Thanks
