Default drill press tilting table lock missing

Hi all. The school where I teach has a green 16mm bench mounted drill press. Not sure what species. model number ST-16J. I can't seem to lock the tilt on the table. I can see an 8mm hole but no thread. I thought there'd at least be a grub screw. Any ideas.

You got any pics showing the hole where the missing bolt goes?

I've got a broken drill press under the house that I keep for spare parts, if anything from that fits you can have it. From memory this one had a bolt with a swivelling handle on it for the tilt action.

Sounds similar to my Craftsman 351-226250. If I could scare up the manual, I'd post a pic. But the gist of it is, a smooth rod to engage the holes in the table and the collar on the column. Driving the rod into the holes achieves locking. The outer part of the rod is threaded to accept a nut. Tighten the nut to pull the rod out of the hole in the collar. You can make your own from a bolt of appropriate size with the head cut off, and the smooth part of the right length for engagement: Cut too big, and re-cut as needed to pull out of the collar hole. Short version of the process is to make the smooth part the same as the depth in the collar, or just a tad shorter.

Exactly the same set up on my broken drill press, will pull the pin out of my old one for you. Do you want to come here and get it or will I drop it off to the school?

Awesome DJ. Should have checked this site earlier (flat out lately). You can drop it at the school, but I'd love to shake ya hand and share a beer.
