Drum sander paper
Hi everyone, does anyone have a good source for buying Paper for Drum Sanders, I have a 20” Sherwood Drum Sander and the paper that came on the machine actually measures “96mm”? I can’t find anywhere that sells paper that size, I’ve found “95 & 102mm” paper but the vast majority of paper is either 100 or 102mm, and when I used the 102mm it wouldn’t line up to be able to clip it into the clamp, I had to try to tear 5mm off the edge of the roll which was a pain in the butt. Plus nearly everywhere that sells paper want to sell ‘25 or 50m Rolls. Is there anywhere in Australia that sells paper in say 10m rolls?

Have you tried The Sandpaper Man who is one of our sponsors, I know they make custom sizes belts, so could probably do paper for drum sanders as well.

I had the same problem, a bit of stuffing around but if you change the angle the paper is cut the 100mm should fit then use that as a template for the next one. I can get 100 mm x 50 mts for $140 so if I stuff one up it`s ok I can use it on the lathe.

I have a Sherwood 16" drum sander and also came with 96mm paper. I use mostly 100mm but I have used 95 and samller. It's easy enougth to workout the angle and length, so I don't get too concerned about the width. If you move the paper in or out of the first (outside) clip that will change the position of the paper on the drum at the other end. Just move it a little at a time until you get the best fit.
I get my paper from a small tool shop in Nowra (not much good for you though). They buy it on 100m rolls and sell it for $2.50/m which I'm happy with.

I use this 60 grit VSM cloth backed sand paper on both drums of my twin drum sander. Its used on floor sanders as well as other machinery I think . Very tough wearing backing .
I just bought this 50 Meter roll . 100 mm wide x 50 M was $288.60 . $5.77 a meter . 25 meter rolls were available as well .
Len Moss Agencies got it for me .

I have tried most of the brand's and types, but the best I have found so far is some green stuff Timbercon in Melbourne sell. If you want the actual brand I can have a look tomorrow.
