Drum sanding and Hoop Pine
Wondering how Hoop pine will go in the carbatec 14" drum sander. I find sanding radiata pine and oregon the belt quickly gets covered in sticky lumpy bits making it useless fairly quickly. This is caused by the gum resins in the wood.
Wondering if Hoop pine will destroy a belt in the same way?ray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

I do that regularly. Clean the belt regularly when using the machine and you shouldn't have too many dramas.

I use my machine for sanding furniture components. I often use Hoop pine in the making of products. I find, that while it can be a little oily, sometimes, regular application of a belt cleaning stick will aid with longevity of the abrasive paper. Yes, sometimes you don't get as many meters out of a roll as you might like.
Cheers

I remember the first and last time I put radiata through the DS here it ruined the belt in a few minutes. Last time I used hoop it was pre drum sander.
