    Default Need help importing from USA

    G'day All,

    Is there anyone who imports from USA or are there any ideas how I can get a pair of these clamps to the Sunshine Coast at a reasonable cost? 50" Pro Grip Solid Back To Back Edge Clamps.

    These things are sold in pairs and Peachtree quoted $150 each in shipping alone. The clamps are $80 Aus for the pair.

    I tried a well known Australian business who stock the brand, but hit a brick wall. After sending them the stock number and a link to the website asking them to look at the video, they claim they sell them but the discription and code numbers are wrong. So too is the price it would be less expensive to import them myself, than to buy what they are offering.

    Couple of things.

    Ptree isn't the cheapest nor best place to buy progrip. If I were buying I'd get mine from:

    I realise they are $12 more for the same thing. I just found them easier to deal with.


    What your looking at is a kit. It's 2 progrip clamps and the back to back attachment kit. Carbatec stock the 50" clamps.

    Anything over 105 cm can't go by post to aus and all other shipping methods are really expensive. If you buy 36" rails you can ship them usps and it will be cheaper than carbatec landed. Remember shipments that total under $1kAU don't attract import duties and taxes. If it's over 105 cm I have yet to find an economical method.

    Edit: Buy 2 or more from japan woodworker and get 10% off, that closes the gap a bit. Anyway whatever suits...you really hve to do the sums on shipping and exchange rate to see whether it's cheaper bringing them in or buying locally. I bought my 8' progrip from carbatec simply because shipping didn't make sense.
