Holz Profi 310 Planer Thicknesser sick --- ???local tech experts in Penrith/Syd area
Hi,
I've a single phase Holz Profi 310 Planer thicknesser that has a serious problem. The motor starts okay at slow speed but never manages to get through the start up cycle into normal high speed running. After about 15 seconds it blows the 15amp cct breaker [ie if you hold the start switch in].
There's a solid state control box inside the power on/off switch box with triacs and chips etc. Above the motor are two white cylinders, one of the cylinders has dark grey dust near where the insulated wires go in....possibly its blown up. Machine is about 5 yrs old and rarely used.
Have any determined woodies encountered and fixed this type of problem? Theres no relay anywhere I can see, that might need to switch over into normal speed mode.
Alternatively, can anyone suggest a mobile serviceman/woman who knows how to fix these things, ie in Penrith, Lower Blue mountains area???

Stab in dark
I am no expert, but it may be a capacitor that requires replacement.
You will need to find out what type it is, (may be on a schematic diagram). If a local repair person is not available a knowledgeable electrician may be able to help.

Hi, Yes it was the capacitor, dunno if it was the 70uF or the 200uf, buts its working like bought one again ie after both were replaced. Local Felder dealer was quite helpful.
Cheers
