Default Looking for replacement drum sanding sleeves

    large drum.jpgsmall drum.jpg

    Hi all,
I'd really appreciate some help with sanding drum sleeves if anyone has experience with this.
I'm a decoy duck carver with a homebuilt two drum sander which I constructed in the US from parts. Ive since run out of sanding drum sleeves and logged a lot of internet time looking for replacements both in Australia and US. Best I've found is custom built sleeves which will be too expensive. I've also tried building my own (not entirely successful).
The dimension of the pneumatic drums are:
    Large - 4 1/4" diameter x 8" length (approx 110mm x 204mm)
    small - 2 3/4" diameter x 8" length (approx 71mm x 204mm)

The sandpaper man has some 3" and 4" options that seem expensive (although no doubt you get what you pay for) but are also the wrong size.

    cheers, Matt

Most suppliers of sanding belts can provide custom built sizes, you say your unit is custom built, then you will be stuck with custom built replacements, in hindsight when building any type of machine it is a good idea to design it to take commercially available consumables.

Since it's a custom made bit of gear, can't you modify it to take a long wrap of sand paper, like most drum sanders? All you need to do is be able to fasten it either end of the drum.

certainly would have been smarter to confirm I could get replacement sleeves. The pneumatic sanding drums were bought in a hardware store, and came with a ton of remade sanding sleeves. I built the jig/drive shaft etc. The problem was there was no brand on the drums, and I've been unable to track down the make.
