Lube arbor thread 10"contractor saw?
Yes or no?
no rust evident - turned 70 and the fingers and arms don't have the power they used to - went to change the blade today and had a fight to get that 5/8"nut to loosen off. Thinks I'll get some 10" bars for a little mechanical advantage and while I was thinking I thought I'd put this question.
In the past I've always thought that it was not a good idea to have that thread slicked up with oil.ray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Not oil, but try a little bit of graphite.

Lubricating it might make it harder to get off because the friction is lessened on the thread and the nut can be tightened easier. Most people over tighten the arbour nut, it only needs to be nipped up not excessively tightened. Maybe consider using longer spanners to undo it it and shorter ones to tighten it.

If you want to lube it, stick to the dry stuff; graphite, dry bike chain lube, etc. Anything oily/greasy will just attract dust and turn to muck.
