Hi, i'm a newby, and i have searched the forum for this.... So here goes. The cast iron column clamp holding the adjustable table has broken for the 2nd time, the casting is less than robust and is so contaminated i'm not prepaired to attempt to weld or braze it up again! It's got to Function, not let me down.. I can't seem to find any dealer and b'all referance to Macraft when googled. And i want a new one. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to go? Thanks..

I have a Macraft CF-16 Drill press which I bought in 1984. Would this be the age of your one? Macraft was the house brand of tools sold through Parra Power Tools. I don't know if they are still around. There used to be a store on Parramatta Road at Granville.
I recently got a relacement quill spring to fit it from Hare & Forbes at Northmead (www.machineryhouse.com.au). One of their generic drill presses was very similar to mine and the part suited. Have a look at their website to see if any of their drill presses look like yours and check if it has a spare parts PDF to download. This would indicate if they stock the sort of part you are looking for which may or may not fit your machine.
I hope this may help you in your quest.
Good hunting!

Ditto the try HF, also Carbatec could be worth a try. You'll need to know the diameter of your shaft, and the size of the bolt that holds the platform.
If you are handy with an Oxy set or a plasma cutter, you could go to one of the medium sized steel suppliers or a suburban 'scrap' dealer, get a piece of steel off cut plate or something a bit more chunky, and fabricate your own replacement - less waiting, you know it will fit & you can repair it easily unlike cast iron.
