Default Motor problem: Bosch GCM 12 SD Professional

The motor of my 18-month old Bosch GCM 12 SD Professional mitre saw is sparking. New carbon brushes don't make a difference. See the video here:

    Any ideas?

It sounds like you have an issue on the commutator , and the brushes are not contacting properly.

I could not down the U tube Pic's for some reason.
So that is an uninformed opinion.

    Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for your thoughts.

The first thing I did was replaced the brushes, even though they don't seem too worn to me. The problem persisted.

Hopefully you can see the video, because the sparks don't appear to be coming from where the brushes are located. Try this link:

Don't know what the issue is I still can't get the Video to load, all the others are fine!!

What you describe sounds , could be that the brushes are not contacting the commutator properly, and causing arcing?? have you cleaned the com???

Sparking else where indicates a short in the windings possibly arcing to the stator.

I would take it to a Power Tool repairer,.

The video works fine for me - and indicates a short in one of the windings or between two of the copper strips of your commutator. If under warranty, don't open it. If not, take it to a Bosh dealer. Expect to be up for a new armature.... sorry. Seen this lots of times - mostly woith cheaper tools than that though....

Glad you could see the video, Joe. Sadly for me, it's not a pretty diagnosis. However, your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

What are the risks of continuing to use this motor, in its current state? (Pardon the pun.)
