    Default Opinions wanted on Bayer tools (specifically Mitre Saw)

    Hey guys I'm in the market for a mitre saw, and I figure if I'm going to get one it may as well have slide functionality.

    I'm well aware of the perils of 'the poor man pays twice' but I'm also not really in a position to spend $450+ at the moment. I had my eye on the Bayer BDMS254 from Sydney Tools (https://sydneytools.com.au/bayer-bdm...ound-mitre-saw) because it seems to represent good value for money at a $300 price point, but searching for reviews online hasn't turned up much.

    Has anyone here used Bayer power tools? Are they, for example, superior to Ryobi? I'm especially interested to know how accurate the mitre gauge is - I've found with some cheap mitre saws that 45 degrees is more like 43 or 47 degrees, which makes mitre jointing an exercise in frustration.

    Any info will really help.

    Hi mate. Just looked at the same saw amd am having the same issue in regards to reviews/quality info. What did you end up going with and whats your opinion?

    I will echo the comments I made in another thread on a similar model... you can find those comments here: Sydney tools table saw BAYER BT255

    From what I saw when I examined the unit I was looking at, you would probably be relatively unhappy with it, unless you were buying it (for example) to throw up on a workbench to roughly cut up some framing material to build a wall or two with, and then relegate it to the back corner of the shed to gather dust.

    To my mind it fills the niche of "I need this only for one job, and renting it or buying second hand is as expensive as buying this, so I may as well buy it, and it might survive the job to be useful for something some time in the future" tool bracket, if that makes any sense?
