Ozito Mitre Saw Stand
Ozito mitre saw stand Vs Taurus compound-mitre saw...
Shy about 40mm for the mounting holes, so I took the stand back to Bunnings and looked at some other stand brands. There were a couple of Dewalts, a Boch and a Ryobi stand, but there was no information on the packaging regards mounting hole dimensions.
So I showed the salesman the photo above and asked him which stand would accommodate the saw.
He said none, telling me that all the stands they have would have the same size mounting bracket as the Ozito. He explained that the Ozito has the standard size mounting bracket and I would be better off trying to make my own mountings.
Really? There must be bigger commercial saws around than the Taurus, mounted on stands?

With a couple of larger washers you can probably use the rear rectangular slots to bolt it down but you might have to get the washers from a bolts place rather then Bunnings.

Thanks Peter.
They are rather odd curved legs.
And I had a quick look at that idea yesterday before taking the stand back. If I could bolt the front normally, by my reckoning the rear foot would barely be touching the bracket at the back and I would probably need the second "square hole" from the back meaning a long thin (dictated by the bracket slot width) bolt which could lead to problems - I think. I'm probably gonna make my own stand.
Cheers.

Based on your sketch why not just cut a 45x19 strip of pine the same width of your saw base. Bolt the saw to the pine (or steel if you prefer) using the correct mounting holes. Drill a few more holes in the pine to enable you to bolt the pine to the slots in the mitre stand.
The 19mm additional height due to the pine will make bugger all difference to the height of the saw when on the stand.
Am I missing something? Pine or additional steel shown in green.

I see what you mean. In that case I would scribe a curved block of wood and cut on the bandsaw to use as a spacer/support block and drill through the wood to clamp it all in place. Should be solid enough.
An alternate method is to use two pieces of wood, the width of your mitre saw, and bolt through that the front mitre saw onto the stand and bolt the wood onto the back part of the stand and again the mitre saw to the wood.
Although you can make your own I find that the extendable supports are worth buying the Ozito stand.
