Default Pre-waxing treatment for cast iron saw tables

Hello, I have just spent considerable time removing rust from a long wet season that settled on my cast iron sawtable. The worst offender appears to be drops of sweat from my forehead which quickly turned into rust. I used WD40 and the green nylon 3M scouring pads and lots of elbow grease to clean this cast iron table.

I have cleaned all the gunk off with White Spirits ( as used in dry cleaning), rather than using methylated spirits as I believe this is hygroscopic and attracts moisture.

Can anyone please advise on what wash down should I use before applying wax to the table?
    regards,

    Dengy

Nothing else needed, just wax it.

I use metho and 000 steel wool to clean mine when needed. Never had trouble using metho, yes it's hydroscopic, but it will evaporate off the table so quickly it's not a consideration for me.

After that straight on with the wax. I doubt you'll get anything better than a surface scoured and wiped clean with metho.

I always hose mine off with the compressor and keep then covered with an old sheet. I find that helps reduce corrosion issues.
