Because of space limitations I was seriously considering the Makita 1019 (like a 1018, but with forward facing slide rails) but since the chancellor of the exchequer gave the go ahead am now going for a 12" so considering the 1219 of the Bosch glide saw, decision imminent.

Well, bit the bullet and went and bought the Bosch 12" glide saw. The decision was made easier by my mate giving me a Total Tools gift voucher for helping him with his workbench, and a Bosch $200 promotional voucher (to be spent on other Bosch Gear) so I used these on a Bosch Composite blade, a Glue gun and a few boxes of cutting wheels.

I'm going to have a tough time fitting it in the available space especially as there's dust extraction to work out.

32kg, I can lift it OK but I'm looking at putting mine on a hydraulic lifting trolley.

    Sydney Tools

also, stay away from bosch, lots of plastic and lots of problems.
So it seems that the 10" Dewalt (DW778) is nonexistent in Australia, but the DW777 is the only one available.

Im debating between that as an 8.5" saw with forward facing rails and the Makita LS1018L which has a more traditional setup.

Anyone want to make that comparison?
