Repco Air Compressor
Hi, ive been searching through some threads and doing some research on air compressors, Repco have one for $129 its a 2hp direct drive with a 21litre tank, it comes with a 5 metre coil hose, a tyre inflator and a blow gun thing.
I really only want it to pump up tyres on trailers and bikes to save having to tow them to a servo to pump them up, id also buy a nail gun and do some light nailing, nothing serious just 40-50mm nails, I dont really know much about nail guns so will have to research that. I would also like to buy a low pressure spray gun to use with this, It would only be used a couple times a year and i dont really care if its running alot.
Now, do you think i am asking to much of a 2hp 21 litre machine? The main jobs will be inflating tyres and nailing as i said. I dont have the use to spend hundreds of dollars on one but i saw this and thought it might be ok.
Cheers

Hello there
Yes I have very very similar one and it works great, it will definately perform the tasks you are asking for and more i do though believe it is a little loud but nothing major. Also maintence like all compressors are key like draining the tank of water to prevent rusting etc all of which is just commomn sense. If you do this you should get many years of good service out of your compressor. Goodluck and happy woodworking

It should be fine for occasional use, but make sure you maintain it. Fit and regularly clean the airfilter on it, and check the oil level on a regular basis. Units run faster than belt drive units so have much lower tolerance for neglect in these areas.
Also alow the tank to empty completely after each use, and open the drain valve in the bottom of the tank to clear any water condensing out of the air.
With occasional use and good care, it should last for many years. With a bit of neglect, many get swapped under warranty.

My grandfather gave me a pump some years ago, its a hand pump, brass body, with fold down feet and a wooden handle. I use it for everything from pushbikes to tractors and cars! You often see them in secondhand/antique shops for about $20, they often need a new hose, but eh? $20 and takes up a lot less space in the shed!
ps don't buy a new imitation, they're rubbish
