Router Table Switch - Power Strip?
I have the Triton TRA001 2400W router, for which I recently built a custom router table. As I don't have fancy safety switch, I was thinking an economical alternative might be to use a cheap power strip with a switch and I'm wondering if this is a safe idea.
The router is listed as 2400 watts and 240v and the Arlec branded power strip I have says max loading 10A 2400W. If nothing else were plugged into the switch, do I risk overloading the power strip or killing my router?
Anyone know where I can find the Australian/240v equivalent to the US products like this? Safety Power Tool Switch - Rockler Woodworking Tools ...at a reasonable price? Would it be simple to build one with a light switch (heavy duty?) and a power outlet?

Have a look on ebay using "emergency stop switch" as a search term and you will see plenty of suitable options.
It should be rated at 10A and 220V or greater.

You will probably find it won't take very long for the switch on the power board to burn out as the type of switch they generally install in those power boards aren't really made to switch any large amount of current. They're made to be turned on/off when the appliance has already been turned off at it's own switch.

There are plant of no-volt switches with an emergency switches on ebay.
Try here No Volt Release Switch | eBay
One problem is the sellers may not ship to Australia, you'd have to check with the seller.

This eBay seller ships this No Volt Release switch to Australia; JCZ3B AC 230V 15A 18A SPST I O Start UP Motor Momentary Electromagnetic Switch | eBay
It looks identical to the switches on my Carbatec dust extractor (2hp) and bandsaw (1.5 hp), so should handle a 3hp Triton router with soft start.

So this sort of switch would require some custom wiring? I can't just plug the router into it and plug the switch into the wall?

IMHO get one which you can nudge off with your knee
real handy when you are using both hands with pushsticks etc
I also agree it is not an area to go cheap on say $180 now is cheap over 10 years
check out your local electrical wholesalers - they might have some bettererregards

You could always get the system that is fitted to the Triton RSA3300 stand. You can get them from Dennis Leverett in the UK. This gives you zero wiring, and the knee off function. Part numbers are CMA050 for the Switch Box, and CMA048 for the Stop Plate.
The price list and parts list are here . You need to scroll down the page for prices.Chris

Carbatec have one that does not require wiring. I installed it on my router table without any trouble and it seems to work OK. Had a quick look in the catalogue but could not spot it but the spare parts bloke in Brisbane seemed to know what he was talking about.

Try Kincrome or H&F
I bought a genuine triton safety switch for $45 at start of year from Kincrome - one of those ones that you nudge with your knee.
Hare and Forbes have lots of switches including one that looks like the one mentioned in the posts above.
