Ryobi Mitre Saw
I bought a Ryobi Sliding Mitre Saw about 6 years ago. It doesn't get a huge amount of use but works well.
One thing that has always puzzled me concerns the tubular steel support "wings". On other saws I've seen these are bent upwards so that the ends of the wings are the same height as the saw table. With this saw, however, the wings are planar so that they are approx. 2 cm below the table (see illustration).
I can't see how I'm supposed to use these (or if they are any use at all). The (Ikea-style) instructions show how to fit them but not how they are used. Can anyone shed any light?
I'm not especially bothered. This is more curiosity than practical need. The way the wings are fitted means they are not too precise and if I wanted side supports I would devise something more precise and adjustable to bolt on.
Thank you
