surely not a new idea...
if you have too many bench-mounted tools and not enough bench space...
each tool is mounted on a common-size plywood base; a trolley that accepts that base on both the top level - for usage - and the bottom level - for storage and stability
the remaining tools are stored in a rack (in this case, an old 23" server rack) that has been fitted with ply shelves

Ohhhhhhh! I like this idea. I have lots of tools that only see occasional use. This could be very handy. Thanks for sharing!

I have just done a similar thing with 2 bench grinders on a short bench. One has coarse and fine wheels, the other has wire brush and spindle for polishing mop etc.
I put them on square pieces of 19mm melamine chipboard so that they are interchangeable and also can be rotated 90 or 180 degrees depending on the use at the time.Tom

I was think once about a system where you put one tool on top of a board and another mounted upside down on the other side of the same board.
In use you would fix it into a bench with a central axel and flip it over to use the other....Steven Thomas
