    Default The Thing

I have been cataloguing my late brother's tools and equipment ready for sale, and have come across this base, attachment or whatever. it consists of 4 separate parts tied together with original plastic ties, so has obviously not been used. (the yellow tape is just holding a couple of bolts in place)
Each part has a part number, but Google does not respond to any of them.
Can anyone identify it/them for me please?

Not woodwork related, but the first thing I thought of was some sort of universal car radio mount. Good chance I am a million miles away.

Yes, it's fairly flimsy metal so perhaps a mount rather than something to be manhandled with a tool attached. I never thought of that, but fairly big for a radio mount.

My first thought was a paper cartridge/guide/holder for a big printer or photocopier.

The main body is roughly 300mm square.

Hi Chris. With all those other Triton boxes in the background, is it not part of that? Or is that too easy?

No, too easy, i'm an experienced Triton man. My other brother has just assembled it and will send me some photos, which I'll post.

Sorry, I didn't mean to do that!
I think I may have found it by accident. if you look down this page:

Air Compressors | ARB 4x4 Accessories

you will see a picture of a mounting plate, which looks mighty like THE THING.
Since there is a shelf full of inflators and he had a campervan and a 4WD I think it is a mounting plate.
I'm still awaiting better photos, but I think you can get back to your woodwork!.

Here's a couple of views of it assembled, although I'm not convinced that it is right - I suspect the tray part fits either inside the frame surround, or else at right angles to it.
