Default Triton Oscillating spindle and belt sander

    450W Oscillating Spindle & Belt Sander | TritonTools.com

I was looking for an inexpensive oscillating spindle sander and then discovered this machine. I can't find any Australian stockist despite being on Triton's Australian site. Many sell the just the oscillating spindle sander (under different brands including scheppach, but having the belt as well would make it more useful. Does anyone own the combination unit and where did you buy it?

    No it isn't Keith.
There are plenty of choices of just spindle sanders, Carbatec, Timbecon, Hare & Forbes, Leda etc but the one I referenced above also includes a belt sander which adds flexibility. It's a shame that it is available in USA and UK but not here. I find it strange that Triton has it on their website when no one sells it.
Anyway, I've given up on the model I want and ordered the oscillating spindle sander. 450W Oscillating Spindle Sander | TritonTools.com

Yeah Barri shame they aren't sold here.
Every US hobbyist wood shop on youtube seems to have one of these branded " Rigid " , so they must work OK.

Yes the Rigid is exactly the same. In fact the spindle sander I ordered is identical, other than colour and branding, as about 6 or 7 other brands around the world.

I had been looking for one of these as well as they looked like versatile machines at a decent price. I suspect the reason we don't have them here is all the version are 110V and they never produced a 240V one, which is a shame.

Don't know if I'm missing something but it is stocked at Amazon.au Doesn't have any mention about voltage but you would assume it is 240V if being sold in Aust. By the price of shipping it looks like they import it when required even though it says in stock.

A quick google search and found this Triton one on eBay.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/p/1402751720...SABEgKhDfD_BwE

I’ve had one similar to this one from Hare & Forbes for about 6yrs.
Very much the same as the triton just a different colour base.

Yes with $130 shipping they are just sending it direct from USA (It is shipped and sold by Bankostore (USA) not Amazon), it will be the the 110V version unfortunately.

These are spindle sanders only, not spindle and belt sanders.

I don't understand how it can be advertised on Amazon.au if it is only 110V and no warning that it can't be used here without a transformer. Seems like false advertising to me.

There is a 240V version of the Triton like this one on eBay. And I think the Ridgid version is a different sander and not a re-badged Triton. The spindle is on the LH side on the Ridgid whereas on the Triton it looks to be on the RH side. I went and got the Ridgid as it's the only one that I found with a mitre slot which will come in handy when sanding things on an angle. The 110V isn't an issue for me as I had a spare transformer lying around.

There are plenty of products available which might be the US version for people willing to use a step down converter or use it for other reasons (parts). Technically the specs do say 3.5A / 450W which indicated 110/120V.

Please sir, when you finally receive it, could you post your thoughts on its preference.
I have a woodwork friend in Texas who has one which seems to get a fair amount of use.
    Cheers crowie.

Good spot on the 240v triton and the differences. Was the Rigid a recent purchase? Was shipping expensive?

GBP 56.66 (approx. AU $101.84) Express Postage to Australia
GBP 34.14 (amount confirmed at checkout)

Yuk! Its just not worth it!
For the same sort of money or less you can buy a separate belt/disk sander and oscillating bobbin sander. This is exactly what I did when I realised that you can't get the combination model in Australia. Its a shame that no one stocks it but looking on the bright side, I don't have to swap the belt and spindle which I would have done a lot.
