I made a mounting plate for it thisarv.
I got the version with the built in controls to save having to have to place it in a box and use an external pot, fed/rev switch & isolator.

This may have been a mistake as the switches don’t feel very nice to use. Fingers don’t really fit between the dial and the edge of the recessed face. My fingers are not large, so those with big hands would likely have a problem.
You can always fit remote switches later if you need to.

The isolator switch requires a lot of force to turn and the plastic switch is pretty flimsy. I feel like with extended use it may fail.
My isolator is the original push button No-Volt E-switch and only gets turned when I first use it, and turned off when I leave the shed. Given it requires some force I maybe would have used more of a push button emergency type switch.

Well wired it up as per the book, set the base parameters and away it went! Easy as that.

The boot up is instantaneous which is nice.

There is no e switch to turn off only the manual isolator, it seemed to free up with use so may be ok after all.

Just need to work out how to connect the emergency kick stop.

    A few approaches are.

If you want basic mechanical safety then connecting the kick stop to the VFD motor stop switch will suffice. That's how I have most of my interlocks set up, eg BS cabinet door microswitches, etc

If you want electrical safety the mains power should be cut using an No-volt switch before the VFD - this is how I most of have mine set up. Yes an error will be displayed and repeated use as a regular (but impractical) way of stopping may eventually damage things but for emergencies it will be OK - VFDs have to be able to cope with power failures from time to time anyway. BTW electrical problems kill many more DIY people than anything else.

If you want very fast stoppage then a breaking resistor is another option.
0.1s fast stoppage is possible but not sure I would want that as a regular/usual way of stopping gear.

Thanks Bob, I would be happy with the mechanical stop.

Having a little read of the book it looks like you can do it easy enough.

I tested the kick button and it seems to be toast. Seems to be open circuit and won’t close when pressed.

This is my BILs safety switch - its forehead operated.
