WDS-4080P Carbatec wide drum sander drum motor replacement
As the title describes. I am looking to replace the drum motor.
My WDS was inherited from my late FIL. To say it has had an uncomfortable life is an understatement.
Anyway, symptoms are
Doesn't always make it up to speed, the centripital switch doesn't cut out. Have to quickly turn it off/on several times to get it onto run.
Thermal cutout button pops after a short time, minutes, even under very light load.
The small motor driving the platen mat is fine, no worries.
So I'm thinking to replace the drum motor. I have details of power speed poles etc. But where to look and what to describe it. Flange mount???
Cannot see any part numbers.
Carbatec???
Thanks for any help, direction.
Lyle
PS sparky coming mid next week to safely check it out.
Just doing some pre-emptive searching.

It may be that the starter cap has deteriorated and is no longer able to get the motor up to speed. I would get it replaced as this may solve your problem.

Ok. Thanks.
The sparky should be able to check that and or replace it. They are easily accessible.

Start capacitor would be the first thing to check. Then the latching of the contactor, motor would be last thing to change
