I don't think that there would be any breakdown of angle grinder injuries. Angle grinders are angle grinders. No point in going to that much trouble. If angle grinders are too dangerous, just ban them in the work place. I have very little faith in statistics like that anyway. Most are compiled by desk jocky's trying to justify their salary.

Cynical I know, but nothing I see on a day to day basis at work or in the paper changes this attitude. Covering the a$#@ seems to be the order of the day.

I have a box of 50 3mm cutting disks that I don't ever use now that I have 1mm ones.
They are great, I get better life span out of them and cutting is very fast.
I have only ever broken one of them and that was from dropping the grinder..
I don't believe safty is an issue provided you treat the machine and the disk's with the respect they deserve.

I knew a doc who works the accident and emergency department. In the conversations I have had with him,it may surprise you to know how often ag grinders figure in minor to severe accidents.

Its people, particurlary untrained diy folk who think they know, but still use the units with out wearing proper eye protection , grind one handed ,without a handle, and with incorrectly fitted and rated dics and with out due regard to who is adjacent to them.

Unfortunately common sense can't be taught and sadly even metals tradesmen are continually added to the tally of injuries from these tools.

Have a near miss with pair of my students ,I have changed to engineered grinding stations in an effort to those separate idiots with angle grinders who worked on a mobile table with searate vices. One fool was not paying attention and sprayed his work mate who then retaliated.

Saying no ,do not do it, does not work for halfwit nongs,so the halfwit nongs are now separted by the appropriate distance and perform AG grinding work from vices mounted outside of the shed and on posts chemsetted into the concrete.

By mounting the vices facing out from the building the tendency is to stand behing them and spray the sparks away from the other students and building.
PS there are only a couple of halfwits but the rest of the kids know who they are and are accordingly wary of them.

    Default 4 or 5 inch

I would sugest one of each. A 4 inch is not worth the effort for cutting, but are super handy for grinding and wirebrushing. The 5 inch will cutt a lot more and packs more of a punch but can sometimes be hard to handle. if you buy 2 you get the best of both worlds, plus you can 'tag team' them if you are doing lots of work without fear of overheating. hope it helps
