    Default aluminium oil radiator repair

    G,day , need to fix a leaking aluminium oil radiator . Anyone ever done one ?Is there a special solder for alloy and is it done with a torch or a big soldering iron?

    It probably depends where it is leaking from, and the general condition of the radiator. I have tig welded one up that was damaged in a crash and it was all good, but the leak was in the top top or bottom tank. There are some sort of aluminium soldering rods out there that I think can be used with a propane or mapgas torch but I have never used them, hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

    Need more info. Preferably a picture.
    Where is the leak exactly?
    I doubt solder will do the job due to contamination issues so tig it will have to be I reckon. I have repaired many such oil coolers but depending on the location of the damage there are some that cannot be done successfully. There are different techniques for different leaks hence my request for a pic.

    Thanks Karl ,I,ll take a pic as soon as i pull it out and work out exactly where the leak is . Its just an old farm excavator but it is on the short list of things that need doing hopefully get around to it this week .
