Dunno about apprenticeships, but a few of the TAFEs in Brissie run welding courses and I think you get some kind of certificate? You probably need a fair bit of experience to be a welder on a mine site though. Gotta be good.

    Hi Peter,
I reckon I am your man. I am an ex Tafe Instructor in Metalfab and welding.I have taught at the TAFE here in
Mackay and have extensive in depth of who is who here in town. One of my Tafe jobs was onsite assessment of apprentices,so that alone gave me insights into the local welding and fabrication industry.

I am involved in a 3 day sport event this Queen,s Birthday week end and will not be home most of the week end . If you PM me you local phone no, I am more happy to talk with you about the apprenticeship opportunities and where they will be found.

I expect to be home around mid Monday arvo.

    Default Welding jobs

Hi Graham, I have just started some welding at work (arc, mig) doing casting repairs as I work in a foundry. I have been looking at some courses at tafe cert II and IV ? Do I have to do a apprenticship to be able to get a job in welding? or if I compleated one of these courses do you know what job I could go for ? any information would be very helpful thankyou.
    Steve.
