Default Bit of guidance if possible

    Hi again,

I just wanted a bit of advice. been teaching myself to tig weld as I tried the part time tafe courses, but my work is too unpredictable and finding it almost impossible to allocate a time.

I have run some beads on 3mm plate, mill scale ground back and just wanted some opinions. I get a bit of inclusion in the weld, using 1 Hz pulse at around 120A max on a foot pedal. Pure argon with a 2.4mm 2% Lanthanated tungsten with a gas Lens.

Hi doc, the welds look fine to me, the inclusions could possibly be that you are taking the nozzle away a bit to far allowing air to get in or that the mild steel has impurities in it.

    Hi Kryn,

Thanks for that, I found my gas flow was turned down a bit, I just learned , never assume what you set will not be adjusted

    All good thanks

Not specifically related, but worth having in your arsenal.
When welding you will see a little bit of silicon/impurity floating in the puddle. When it starts doing laps around the puddle, you know your power etc is good.
Fiddle around a bit and you will see what I am referring to.
    Looking good though.
