BOC welding helmets on special
Got a BOC catalog in the mail today... looks like they are about to release new helmets so have the old ones cheaper to clear them out. The 'switch' auto darkening helmet $176, 'auto tracker' $264 and 'multi-process' $329 all inc GST.
I'm thinking of replacing my adjustable shade tecmen (which has given me many years of faithful service) and trying something a bit more expensive to see if all the 'you get what you pay fors' are right... any comments on these?

auto helmets
Well, I haven't bought a BOC but did upgrade a couple of months back from just a cheap Tradetools Brand Auto Helmet($60) to a fully automatic Everlast helmet ($197) and wow the difference is vast.
The viewing area better, the non darkened static shade is much lighter and easier to see.
The auto dark is so fast with absolutely no noticable flash whereas the old helmet was a bit slower and a slight flash when striking which would make it hard to see for the first few seconds. New helmet is lighter is weight and stays put, and it also works well on low current TIG.
I am so impressed with the improvement I am considering even a better helmet to use at work as my welding has improved so much by just being able to see clearly with more comfort.
You definitely get what you pay for in helmets I'd say.

I'd be keen to find out aswell, as my long-term plan is to upgrade from the Tecman to a 3m Speedglas helmet one day, but if an alternate option of similar quality exists for a better price, I'd be willing to look at that
