G'day Everyone

My Cigweld Transmig 250 (circa 2001) wire feed motor died today. There is voltage getting to the motor but motor operation/rotation is very eccentric and quite often not at all. The motor is completely non serviceable.

After numerous phone calls to Cigweld, welding repair companies, welding repair parts suppliers etc it appears that i am basically stuffed. The problem is that this era of welders uses a 12v motor whereas everything nowadays and most others historically are 24v or even higher. Using the incorrect voltage motor would upset my motor speed. The general consensus from everyone I have spoken to is that if I cant get the part then the welder is now scrap. The motor I require is a KSV 4030-215 12v. Cigweld have 1 drive unit assembly in stock for about $700. I don't need the full assembly, just the motor and at $700 I don't think the welder is worth that much.

The above document has the motor I require but unfortunately they do not stock them any more and are unable to get them.

As the collective knowledge here is quite formidable i am hoping that I can get the following questions answered.
1) Does anyone know where I could get the correct motor from for a reasonable price?

2) If the welder does end up as scrap then the age old question gets asked. What welder do I get? I would love a mig/ac&dc tig/plasma unit but the only one I can find is Token tools and there prices have gone up a lot since I last looked. I am looking at around $2000 for a new unit but within reason happy to buy individual units but i think that might blow the budget. Any suggestions on brands etc.

Looking forward to hearing what the think tank come back with

Thanks
Yorin
