    Default Colour coded electrodes

While sorting out my welding stuff, I found some electrodes that had green on the tips of the electrode and others that were reddish-brown, are they special electrodes?

assuming you mean for a stick welded not a tig welder?

tig all the electrodes have different colours to designate if its pure tungsten, or alloyed (each one different colour)

dont know about the stick ones though?
I'd rather build it than buy it......

    Hi tiger,
Possibly a a means of distinguishing one electrode from another as labelled by the manufacturer.
There was never any colour coded standard, in as far as I was aware.
