Well, assuming it's an AC/DC machine in good condition I would think it would be an excellent machine.
It is hard to say a value without knowing what state it is in, how old etc but I would say that if it has been looked after and in good condition including accessories it would be $2,500 upwards.

See what else he's selling with it - tungsten, cups, gas lenses? make sure the leads are in good repair, and both the little finger rests are on the tig torch. I'm not familiar with that model but have been using a Kempii mastertig 2500 a bit and it's a nice machine. I'm not sure what market price is, but $1800 seems like a good deal. Cheers - Mick

Sounds like a good deal at $2,000, but without seeing it, bit hard to judge so you will have to weigh that side of it up.

Not sure but it was only used once to fix a boat. It comes with the torch a pile of filler rods and an illegal argon bottle which is full. It's tempting but I am not sure how much I will use it as an apprentice machinist

the Model Mastertig 2300 currently sells around $5500.
1/3 of that value is an exceedingly good value for money for a high quality unit that will last you many years.

I would jump on it straight away if I was older but being 16 makes it difficult it would take alot of weekend at my job earning 10 an hour to pay it off. Although when I get 800 for tools from the government I may be able to afford it.

$2000 for a MasterTIG 2300 is a STEAL!!! There was a bit of a survey on MIG Welding - The DIY Guide some time ago on what are the best welders money can buy and this particular model was considered the Rolls Royce of TIGs (Fronius were considered the best of the MIGs in case someone is interested).
If it is in decent condition, buy it. If not, please PM ME and I will buy it. But for gods sake, quickly before your neighbour changes his mind!
Just to confirm; this is the box we are talking about?
