The reality of this massive amount of scrap metal that is offloaded onto Australia called "tools" and that ends up in landfills after 3 months is that it is a fraud.
How can someone sell a tool called screwdriver yet it can not be used as such. In fact it could not even be used as a paint can opener without bending it? Where is the industry regulator?
And the same goes for every cheap chineese tools you can think of. They are displacing the real tools with false pretenses. A drill who's shaft bends by hand is not a drill, is a con. An Inverter that lasts one week and burns the circuit board is not a welder, is a fraud and as such should not be allowed in the market.
Unfortunatley our goverments are week or, like in this particular moment, used for personal promotion and further interests and not to govern for Australia.

"As for our unit from America they sure know how to manage money and the housing market over there so he would be safe buying an American welder"

Ha ha ha, well said Chips 63. The d!ckheads display complete financial incompetence on a national scale, screw their economy along with the rest of the world, and then expect us to believe american is best? Please. What a joke.

I suppose you don't buy German tools because Germans are all Nazi. Nor Italian tools because they are all Mafia.

Fortunately for the rest of us, America just like Germany, Italy, England, Sweden and even Spain to name a few, have managed to develop industries we in Australia have never dreamed of getting even close to. We can only hope they continue making the fine tools and machines tradesman and professionals use day in day out.

And for the record lets note that it is not government administrators who make brands and industries, it is private individuals with vision and courage and ambition who start perhaps in a shed and get to build tools and machinery and cars and aircraft that are famous perhaps after a few generations. Industry is developed DESPITE the government of the day and not by it.

And it is government idiocy and corruption and lack of vision that brings them down most of the time.

Comments like yours should be directed to efforts like the "emission trading scheme", a gigantic CON that will bring us to our knees. To the "Global Warming" religious mafia who display the obtuse ignorance of the Spanish Inquisition, to the NSW Government who wouldn't be able to organise a tea party in a nursing home, to the voters who keep on applauding Robin Hood and Evita Peron and their efforts to turn us in the new Argentina complete with "free" dental care. May be the one child policy will follow...

As for nameless Chinese made welders compared to American made Lincoln or Miller, even if some or even many parts are commissioned to be made elsewhere, there is no doubt in my mind that you yourself know how well they would compare.
