    Peter,
I will save you the trip to DSE, they do not stock an equivalent Varistor, in fact they stock very few components these days. Before you go the online route, you could try the welder with the Varistor removed from the board; its sole purpose is to limit the amplitude of RFI feeding back into the mains from the welder switch mode power supply. It should be replaced with one which has the same ratings.

    Regards,
    Chas.

DSE item number R 1802 is a 275V varistor. Just check the availability at your local store.

EDIT : according to their web site, they are in stock in the Rocky store.

    Very true, unfortunately.
    Cheers.

DSE P/N R1802 is NOT a suitable replacement for your application. It has a 275V rating but pulse energy rating is only 20 joules and peak pulse current of 2000 amps. Both of the P/N from Jacar & Altronics are rated 275V & 190 joules, peak pulse current 6500 amps. The physical size is your guide, and no manufacturer is going to knowingly use an under-rated component in an industrial product.

    Regards,
    Chas.
